Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Theodore (Ted) Jander. I have been composing and arranging for a little over twenty-four years. Out of my varied career and life experiences, my musical oeuvre has grown. Sacred choral music represents the bulk of my output. However, over the past several years, writing for other instruments has built up my catalogue. Dabbling in the world of electronic/mixed music provides a nice change of pace from the more formal situations of music making. From my musical growth and life journey, a new calling evolved, the founding of Journey Begun Media.
Throughout my compositional training, I was blessed to receive guidance from several fantastic and gifted individuals: Dr. Claude Baker, Professor Kim Portnoy and Professor Robert Chamberlin. While at the European American Musical Alliance program in Paris, France, in July 2005, my teachers included Dr. Philip Lasser, Michel Merlet and Narcis Bonet.
From participating in grade school choirs, church choirs, collegiate ensembles, to honing my musical chops as Artistic Director and member of the Greenleaf Singers (a St. Louis-based Early Music Vocal Ensemble); through teaching music, technology, and art; producing two podcasts, Journey Begun in Scripture and Coffee Talk with King Francois I; serving as Cast Director for the St. Louis Renaissance Festival; via various worship and music positions at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd; and as a Tech Troubleshooter for Alorica; I have experienced multiple opportunities to cultivate my writing, organizing, communicating, composing, digital media producing, technical and computer proficiencies, and leadership skills.
In my spare time, you will see me either running or cycling, mostly running though, reading, video gaming, portraying Francois I, King of France as part of the St. Louis Renaissance Festival, and spending as much time as I can with my two children.
